Phoebe Strang, she was b. Feb. 7, 1732, d. Oct. 27, 1759 ; their children were, I. Abraham, b. April 9, 1759, d. Aug 1769, s. p. II. Alvan, b. Jan'y 11, 1757, d. July 16, 1830, mar. Lydia Hunt, she d. Jan'y 27, 1842, aet. 83, and left issue, 1. Abraham of Goshen, Orange Co., mar. Charity Strang and had William, Alvan, and Howell. 2. Alsop, d.s.p. 3. OR Per Roebling:[2] "Obadiah, Abraham, Jonathan, and Joseph Purdy were brothers . . . Abraham Purdy was born 10 October 1716 and died at Yorktown 17 April 1778. He was one of the justices of Westchester County and an elder of the Crompond or Hanover Church to which he bequeathed fifty pounds sterling He married Phebe daughter of Daniel Strang of the Manor of Cortlandt born 7 February 1732 died 27 October 1759 Their children were:

Frances Purdy born 23 July 1753 married Colonel John Drake (Note the DAR patriot index calls him Jeremiah Drake) Ebenezer Purdy born 6 December 1754 (Note: probably died before 1778, not mentioned in father's will Jerusha Purdy called Jerusha Drake in her father's will of 9 April 1778 (Note: a misreading; Jerusha apparently was unmarried at that date.) Alvan Purdy born 11 January 1757, died at Yorktown 16 July 1830, married Lydia Hunt who died 27 January 1842 aged eighty three years, (Their children omitted here) Abraham Purdy who died August 1769 "


Abraham's will left all his real property to son Alvan, bequests to daughters Jerusha and Fanny Drake. Dated April 9, 1778, proved May 20, 1778. Witnessed by brother Obadiah and brothers-in-law John and Joseph Strang.[3]
