Blue’s Astro-Explorer presents two new narrative artworks—Constellations for the New Millennium and How the White Cube Hangs Once the Gallery Has Closed. Both series use image, text, and humor to investigate the relationship between contemporary art and daily life. For centuries, humans have projected their concerns and ambitions onto the heavens. In Constellations for the New Millennium, the seventy drawings install to create a single night sky gradient, while the content of individual drawings ranges from highbrow to low, including art, science, and pop culture references. The series also include newly proposed zodiac signs for personality archetypes that satirize trends in contemporary life. How the White Cube Hangs Once the Gallery Has Closed takes a white cube, the high water mark of minimalist sculpture, and introduces it to sites in Vermont and New Hampshire. By placing the cube into scenes from everyday life, an everyman is born. The resulting photographs explore the intersection of art and life in the Upper Valley.
